Kerosene burns cleaner due to its refining process – it is #1 oil that has been filtered to clean it up. It is said to burn more efficiently, causing it to last longer and making it worthy of its higher price. Kerosene fuel produces fewer BTU’s than #2 Heating Oil.
Kerosene does not gel during cold weather, because it has a lower flash point of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is a superb option for tanks that are free-standing outside or in an area where the tank is exposed to the elements, because it resists gelling.
